MODERATE RISK UPDATE: Brand New Moderate Risk issued for Monday, Moderate Risk for Sunday increases in size....

For the past couple of days, the experts at TWNS have been following a very strong low pressure system that everyone believes will cause a significant round of severe weather. SPC has issued a Brand New Moderate Risk for Monday. This new moderate risk includes West TN (Memphis), Northern MS, Extreme Eastern AR, Northeastern LA, Extreme Southwestern KY, and a Sliver of Northwestern AL. Main threats according to SPC are Damaging Winds, Large Hail, and tornadoes (some could be strong). Flash Flooding is possible considering there is a Flash Flood Watch issued by NWS Memphis. The Moderate Risk that was already issued for tomorrow has increased in size. The modified moderate risk covers most of Central AR, Southwestern MO, Southeastern KS, Eastern OK, Northeastern TX, and Northern LA. Main risks according to the SPC are Large Hail and Tornadoes. Stay with TWNS throughout this weekend, we'll keep you informed ahead of the storm.

SPC Has issued a Moderate Risk for Sunday! Indicating a possibly major severe wx/tornado outbreak in the making!

SPC has placed a MODERATE Risk of Severe Weather for the Ark-La-Tex region of the US for Sunday. This risk includes Southeast TX, Southwest AR, Northwest LA, and Northeast TX. This is an indication that there could be a tornado outbreak and or severe weather outbreak in this area. The primary risks include Large Hail, Damaging Winds, and Tornadoes (some could be strong). Latest GFS Models showing that storms will start early at around 6 AM in Central Oklahoma and progress Eastward as the day goes on. As the temperature increases, these storms could become very strong and possibly go tornadic. GFS Models also showing that temps in this region will be in the 60s-80s. One thing that we are hoping will NOT happen on Sunday in this region is sunshine. Because sunshine is one of the key ingredients for tornadoes. We're also hoping that the cap doesn't break on Sunday. If it does, then there will be explosive supercell development. Stay tuned to TWNS throughout the weekend for expert analysis, hourly radar updates, and live reports from storm chasers.

A Very Active, potentially dangerous severe weather/tornado outbreak coming up this weekend onthrough early next week

As stated in the title, a potentially major severe weather/tornado outbreak is likely in the next couple of days. This multi day outbreak will start on Saturday, April 26th, Ironically on the day before the 3 year anniversary of the "super" tornado outbreak. SPC has placed a slight risk for Central TX, Central OK, Central KS, and Southeastern NE. I do anticipate the dry line to be placed across the western half of the Slight Risk area and storms will fire up along this line. Large hail and tornadoes are the primary risks for Saturday. For Sunday, the risk area shifts eastward to Eastern OK, Northeastern TX, Northwestern LA, West Central AR, Western MO, Eastern KS, and Southeastern NE. This one will be much worse in my opinion than Saturday's because according to the SPC, they are expecting some Strong Tornadoes. This may be like Deja Vu for folks that endured last year's severe weather outbreak. I find it ironic that this is all occurring on the Anniversary of April 27th or the "super outbreak" Monday's storm situation won't be much different than Sunday's...one thing different is that the risk area shifts eastward to the southeast: Central AR, Almost all of LA, All of MS, Central AL, West Central TN (includes Memphis and Nashville), West KY, Extreme Southeastern IN, Southern Illinois, Central MO. BE AWARE!!: A few strong tornadoes may be expected with supercells that form out ahead of the dry line. This is a good time to review your family's tornado safety precautions as we endure this round of severe weather...TWNS will be active and fully staffed all weekend long providing you live updates, hourly radar updates and live analysis of the supercells. Stay to TWNS, we'll keep YOU informed ahead of the storm!

Potentially Significant Weather Event coming up in the next few days

Well it IS that time of the year, Severe Weather Season! And there IS a potential for a significant severe weather event in the making. Right now, SPC has posted Slight Risks for the next couple of days for much of the Midwest and the southeast. Right at the moment there is no moderate or high risks in effect, but that doesn't mean there won't be any in the next few days. Latest GFS Models showing that the severe weather may start as early as noon tomorrow across Nebraska and Kansas. Then strengthening on Thursday for much of the Midwest states. This heavy band of storms will push off to the east. Our Weather Office will be "all hands on deck" for the next couple of days until this severe weather is over. Stay tuned to TWNS, we'll keep YOU informed ahead of the storm.

UPDATED Easter Weekend Forecast

I know I've said this once, but I'm saying it again-Everyone at TWNS wishes you and yours a very happy Easter Sunday! Ok here is the updated Easter Weekend Forecast-Across the southeast, it will be very dry and warm with temps ranging between the '70s and '80s. Milder Temps across portions of the Northeast. UNFORTUNATELY there is a chance of Severe Weather across West Central Texas, Western Oklahoma, and Southwest Kansas. This will ultimately damper any Easter Egg Hunting in these areas. According to accuweather.com, the Primarily threats at this time seem to be Damaging winds, heavy downpours, lightning and some hail, however a isolated tornado or a tornado warning can't be ruled out. "Stay with TWNS, we'll keep YOU informed, ahead of the storm." The dry line will be situated across West Texas, northwest Oklahoma, and southwest Kansas. Rain will be expected from Texas to North Michigan; across northwestern Washington State; Eastern Florida, portions of southeastern Florida, Eastern South Carolina and Eastern North Carolina. So this will unfortunately damper any Easter Egg Hunting.  Across the west, fairly sunny conditions will be expected with Temps ranging 60s to the 90s in some spots (Southern California and Arizona). What I like about tomorrow is the fact that the TWC Temperature map is NOT showing all blue except in a few spots. Be very thankful it's not a whole nation filled with blue (Blue means cold temps)
